Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Model for Performance Prediction of Two-DOF Planar Resolver

In this paper, an analytical model based on the Magnetic Equivalent Circuit (MEC) method is developed for a planar wound mover two-degree of freedom (2-DOF) resolver. Planar resolvers enable mass, volume, and complexity reductions position control 2-DOF linear actuators. However, similar to any other electromagnetic sensors, performance negatively affected by limited dimensions mover’s ferromagnetic core. Thus, it necessary develop appropriate compensation method. On hand, 3-D geometry sensor necessitates extremely time consuming time-stepping analysis. Therefore, fast yet accurate critical iterative design algorithm. order address these modeling limitations, slot-tooth region longitudinal end effect are included in model. Then, its accuracy verified comparing results with those stepping finite element (TSFEM). employed optimization compensate effects. Finally, optimal experimentally prototyped tested.
